Vs. 19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” The Great Commission! Remember before Jesus would quote this verse, He was resurrected and proved to us all that He conquered death & sin! While it was probably one the hardest three days the followers had experienced up to this time in their life…Jesus reminded them and all of us not to be afraid (vs. 5). When Jesus is on our side, we will not lose the war we fight in this life…the resurrection proved Jesus’ triumphant promises!
Regarding application…Doubting. Vs. 17, “When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.” While some scholars suggest others were with the eleven during the Great Commission…I think it’s very telling to see the reality of our faith. We are not condemned to hell because we doubt at times in our lives…it’s part of our maturation process as Christians. Yet, Jesus shows His patience with us as we exercise our desire to believe even though we do not see. Question: Which one are you if you were on that mountain with Jesus? Are you doubting or are you believing? What area in life can you improve on when it comes to trusting the Lord?
