Vs. 1, “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.” God presents His servant, Jesus! We know this was specifically talking about Jesus because Jesus himself would refer to this passage in Matthew 12:17-21. We are reminded how Jesus fulfills Isaiah’s prophecies about Him (vs. 1-13). But, we also read of a time when people will be spiritually blind (vs. 16). Isaiah is talking about the Jews in Babylon returning from captivity as well people today who need to open up our hearts and eyes.
Regarding application…A New Song. Vs. 10, “Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.” Everyday we wake up in the morning, God gives us a new reason to sing and live for Him! I believe the point that Isaiah is trying to make is that there is always going to be a reason to praise the Lord (PTL). I think God delivers us out of more situations than we’ll ever realize. Take time today to reflect on new reasons to praise Him in your QT today. Listen to the still small voice of God and pay close attention to His guidance (vs. 23).
