QT – I Timothy 2

Vs. 1, “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone.”  In chapter one, Paul outlines some of the roles of the church…now he emphasizes the incredible importance of prayer.  The youth here at CTC have been reminded how important that aspect is!  The two main ministries of church leaders is God’s word & prayer…but, on that same note…it is the churches responsibility to be in God’s word & pray for their leaders!  Regarding women…the Gospel opened up so many opportunities for women, but this new found opportunity brought some of the women to disrespect authority, but don’t think that the men were not at fault either.  The aspect of submission is not to degrade or look down…it is a picture of how all of us should submit to our Lord.  We are all submitted to God.  Some of the women were wearing clothes that could cause men to stumble (Vs.9)…the word silent should be really translated to peaceful (vs. 12).

Regarding application…Gospel for All.  Vs. 4, “who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”  This is a wonderful reminder why we do this all in the first place.  I’ve been very encouraged this particular week to see the youth students at my church desire to bring their friends to church!  Despite all of our busyness and struggles, this is what it’s all about!  Let’s make every effort to be proud of our Lord Jesus and never ashamed of bringing others to Him!  While there are struggles with having more students, I know God will continue to provide the love and community we cherish so much!
