QT – II Corinthians 7

Vs. 10, “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”  Paul had many concerns that were not revealed to him until Titus would arrive.  One of Paul’s concerns was that his earlier letter might have been too harsh for them.  He was worried that this might have posed a negative effect upon the young Christians.  But he was delighted to have found out that it lead many of the naive young Christians to Godly sorrow that resulted in them repenting of their worldy ways.  There is vast difference between true repentance and regret.  Repentance leads to God…Regret leads people away from God and into the arms of the enemy himself.  Just remember Judas Iscariot for the perfect example of “regret”.

Regarding application…Encouragement.  Vs. 13, “By all this we are encouraged. In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was, because his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.”  Not only does God give us times of refreshing…but we can give each other times of refreshing!  When they received Titus so warmly, Paul himself felt the warmth from them too!  When I see the YG respond so warmly to a each other…it makes me proud & I feel the love of Christ!  This is kind of what Paul must have felt too.  We take for granted the power of encouragement, but just look at how powerful it is!  Not only does it feel good to receive encouragement…It feels great to give it.  If you don’t believe me, go forth and give it…You will find yourself delighted too!
