QT – I Corinthians 2
Vs. 13, “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught word.” There are many people who are very charismatic and eloquent in their personality and speech. They are gifted orators who can inspire a crowd no matter what topic they speak on. The Apostle Paul, on the other hand, was not the natural gifted speaker that we would assume from his letters (vs. 1). Greek Philosophy in the culture of the Corinthians was very popular at the time. Likewise, many people of intelligence will look down upon Christians and their supposed simple way of thinking. But their wisdom compared to God’s was nothing (vs. 6).
Regarding application…Mind of Christ. Vs. 16, “for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” A person who is walking with the Lord has the mind of Christ. Isn’t that great? The Lord gives us His mind, His thought process, His wisdom to those who seek after Him. When we have our own mind, we shudder at the very thought of someone else being able to read what we are thinking. Yet, God does not strike us down for such thoughts…however, He does have a desire to help us to think like Christ. WWJD bracelets look to action, but perhaps we should WWJTD (What Would Jesus Thoughts Do) as we look to the thing that can prevent the action in the first place!
