QT – Romans 12

Vs. 1, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”  Paul has covered a whole lot of knowledge so far in Romans, and now he takes that knowledge and helps us to apply it practically in our lives.  What a wonderful verse to memorize from above.  The true act of worship isn’t just when we meet together @ church, the true act of worship is a daily walk with the Lord.  When we do this, we are able to help everyone be a whole body that pleases God (vs. 3-8).

Regarding application…Overcoming Evil.  Vs. 21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”  Whew~…This is a tough one to digest, yet we are exhorted to forgive and extend mercy upon our enemies.  If we use the same tactics as our enemy, we will be overcome.  Forgive as God has forgiven us.  When I think of the story of someone like Jim Elliot who was killed in cold blood by the Auca Indians, his wife Elizabeth struck back not with vengeance, but with love.  And the very person who killed these loving missionaries became saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus because Elizabeth chose to overcome evil with good.
