QT – Romans 7

Vs. 6, “But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.”  Thankfully, we no longer live under the law…but that does not allow us to be lawbreakers!  The moment law or rules are given, it reveals our sin nature to naturally want to do what we are told not to do.  To be under the law, we have to achieve perfection…but to be under Grace, it’s not what we do, it’s what God did for us.  The Law is not bad, but it like a blacklight that exposes all the dirt (sin) that our regular light does not reveal.

Regarding application...Flesh is Weak.  Vs. 19, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.”  I would love to say this doesn’t apply to us now as Christians, but that just simply isn’t true.  Until we reach the other side of Heaven, we are going to struggle with this sin nature.  But God gives us a new nature…a nature of holiness!  When we submit our weakness to the Lord, it is then that God is able to triumph over our sin nature with His Holiness and it is then that the will of God in our lives can be fulfilled!  Admit our weakness and wretchedness (Vs. 24) and depend on Him!  Read your Bible and Pray each day!
