QT – Psalm 140

Vs. 1, “Rescue me, O LORD, from evil men; protect me from men of violence.”  This is another imprecatory (judgement) psalm that Kind David wrote.  Don’t ever forget, when you choose to follow the Lord…Evil will surely go against you.  The enemy uses gossip and slander (vs. 3) and traps to ensnare us (vs. 4).  But David countered this with prayer and praise.  Notice how David requests God to be the one to avenge (vs. 8-10)

Regarding application…God Comforts Us.  Vs. 12, “I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy.”  We see a God whose compassion reaches out to us and helps us in our time of need.  Think about times when we are really needy, such as being sick.  Isn’t it great to have your mom or your wife be there for you when you are sick.  They find ways to comfort us and provide nourishment when we need it the most.  That’s how God works when we go through extra hard times.  Praise the Lord for His comfort!
