QT – Psalm 127

Vs. 3, “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.”  This is the eighth psalm of ascents and one of the only two psalms attributed to Solomon.  Remember, Solomon was granted with wisdom and he would talk about the foolishness of living a life without God.  We are reminded from the verse above that children are a blessing.  Lord willing, I sure hope that God will bless me with children :)

Regarding application…Living a Life without God.  Vs. 1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.  Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.”  When we try to live this life building our own house…we live this life in vain.  Jesus would tell us that we can do nothing without Him (John 15:5).  When I think about this Psalm it reminds me how hard so many parents work to provide for their children.  As commendable as it is…we also don’t want to work so hard building a physical life (nice house, good, education, nice clothes)…and forget about spending time with our loved ones.  As you look to your future, don’t forget to build your house on the Rock!
