QT – Psalm 126

Vs. 1, “When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed.”  This is seventh ascent Psalm and it celebrates the return to Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity.  It is a wonderful psalm reflecting on the joy of being back home…it was a dream of their and now their dream was a reality.  While there are times of tears and struggle (vs. 5-6)…there is also times of gladness and joy.

Regarding application…True Restoration.  Vs. 4, “Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.”  This Psalm really points to the one person in Jesus Christ who would restore us all.  When I went to Las Vegas with Hyojin awhile back….we went to an Automobile museum.  This place had hundreds of cars (mostly older and some antiques) on display.  It was amazing the restoration work done on them.  The value was certainly astronomical on some.  They looked probably better than when they came off the showroom when they first were created.  That’s what God does for us….he takes these worn down bodies of ours and restores us better than brand new.  But unlike these cars…we are not called to be restored and sitting there.  We are called to be restored and go out to the world to help restore others through Jesus!
