Vs. 4, “I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” A fitting reminder in our Psalm as we just had a message on “Fear” today. This particular Psalm was written to remember David’s deliverance from Abimelech the king of Gath. David had fled from one enemy in Saul only to have to flee another enemy in the city of Gath. He had to act insane so that the Philistines would not kill him because of his known reputation. This psalm is a personal testimony from David in how God saves! David could have easily given credit for his own wit for getting out of the dangerous situation, but he gave all credit to God!
Regarding application…God is Tasty! Vs. 8, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” One of my favorite Korean meals is an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant! Fortunately in So. Cal, there are many options to choose from. Hyojin and I found that we tend to frequent one more than the others…the winner is…Tahoe Galbi! In fact, we enjoy it so much that when my brother came last year we took him. When Daniel & my mother-in-law moved here, we took them there. When my Mom came to visit in October, we also took her there too. It was as if we were saying, “Taste and see how good Tahoe Galbi is!” We liked it so much that we wanted others to experience it! Likewise, David metaphorically tasted and realized how God the Lord really was. His hope was that we too would be blessed when we come to found out how wonderful His spiritual food really is!
