Vs. 36-37, “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” This is a good reminder in light of the recent movie 2012, which is loosely based on the Mayan caleneder’s supposed end of the world. The events we read about today pertain to the tribulation at the end times….it is a time when God will pour out His judgment upon the world. But God would not keep us completely oblivious of when for He warns us of signs that will give us clues. Wars and rumors of wars, famines, and earthquakes….hmmm…sound familiar? We also are reminded of the Anti-Christ and the Abominatin of Desolation the rebuilt temple the is yet to come.
Regarding application…Cold-Hearted. Vs. 12, “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” Sadly…it is the reality of the world we live in. Even in churches, the love of Christ can grow cold and we are in danger of losing our first love (Remember the church of Ephesus from Revelations 2). In the message today @ church we were reminded of God’s grace towards us. Grace = Undeserved acceptance & love. How much more should we do our very best to protect against having a cold heart when Jesus would be the very one warning us. Notice the word: most! Most of us. Not a few of us…but most of us. Jesus is not talking to those who are unsaved…He talking to YOU! Let us do what we can and turn to the Lord each day so our hearts do not grow cold.
